Applying for Settlement (Indefinite Leave to Remain)
Acquiring settled status in the UK will enable you to work in the UK free of restrictions. There is no limit to your stay in the UK. In addition, you may eventually be eligible to apply for British Citizenship.

Many people will have heard about the long residence rules, where individuals can apply under the basis of:
- 10 years lawful residence in the UK or
- 14 years continuous residence in the UK.

You will now also need to pass a Life in the UK or ESOL test to qualify for settlement, although there are some exceptions to this requirement.
